Raising for Eliana's legal and personal security expenses

We are raising funds to cover (1) Eliana's legal defence relating to events in Albert Park last weekend, (2) her personal security needs.

This is the official fundraiser for Eliana's legal expenses with her full support. Eliana is currently in Australia and receiving numerous threats against her personal safety. She will return to NZ sometime soon.

This fundraiser is to get Eliana a criminal defence lawyer/barrister so she has the best defence possible. Additionally, Eliana may have personal security needs - i.e. cameras for her house etc. Any funds surplus to requirements will be donated to Rainbow Path Aotearoa.

To answer some queries I have been getting over on Twitter:

- Eli intends to face the charges, she is not 'on the run'.

- She will arrive back in NZ shortly. Exact arrival details are secret due to security.

- Eli has been getting numerous threats - her security needs have probably increased since the fundraiser started. The threats are credible and serious.

- We will have greater clarity around legal costs early next week and will publish them here. We are committed to full transparency with the community.

- Just to reiterate all surplus funds will go to Eli's preferred charity - Rainbow Path Aotearoa.

A quick update 1 June 2023

Kia ora everyone, I just wanted to update you on Eli and how she is using some of the funds you have all so generously donated.

Most importantly, Eli is safe despite her home address being doxxed. Vicious thugs allied to an anti-LGBTQIA+ organisation turned up there to intimidate her and she has been unable to return there for her safety. So she is using some of the funds for safe accommodation at an undisclosed location in the meanwhile.

Eli is deeply grateful to everyone who has given to help her. Our goal is to still to get to 30k to cover all her legal and security expenses. Any surplus will go to Rainbow Path.

If you can afford to give any extra to the fundraiser Eli would be extremely grateful.

The global situation for trans, intersex, gender non-conforming and non-binary people is deteriorating at the moment and by contributing to Eli’s fundraiser you have played a small part in fighting that. Thank you so much.
